Travel Table: Tune In Garden in Chiang Mai, Thailand

I recently traveled to Thailand—the Land of Smiles. The only thing more memorable than the people was the food. (The elephants were pretty great, too!)

One very special place I visited was the Tune In Garden, a secluded hideaway in the mountains at the former home of the late Thai writer Rong Wongsawan outside of Chiang Mai. At this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, Chef Aunty Tim prepares in-season Thai dishes (above) from her cookbook, chef’s table-style. The outdoor tables surrounded by lush vegetation, facing a waterfall, lend a dreamlike ambience to the incredibly flavorful dishes. I attempted to recreate her beef appetizer on orange slices for a dinner party back at home.

Have you traveled to a place recently where the food and culinary scene inspired you and influenced your menu when you returned? If so, we want to hear about it! Send me an email (sara@cfe-news.com) to be featured in Travel Table.
