MEIKO Dishwashing Machines Render Newest Coronavirus Harmless, According to Virologist

Germany-based HygCen—an internationally recognized and accredited test laboratory for medical devices, disinfectants and similar products—has certified that coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is inactivated after one wash cycle in a MEIKO dishwashing machine.

“The pathogens do not cause any problems for a commercial MEIKO dishwasher with the special agents used, the special washing mechanism and an increased water temperature,” said Virologist Dr. Friedrich von Rheinbaben of HygCen. “MEIKO devices are able to process dishes and cutlery in such a way that they can be reused without hesitation, even if they have previously been used by infected or sick people.” MEIKO has nearly 100 years of expertise in professional warewashing technology, and more than 70 years in the cleaning and disinfection technology of medical equipment and patient-care devices. Ensuring sanitized dishes, utensils and other foodservice wares has long been one of MEIKO’s key competencies.
